Top 20 Biglaw Firm Matches Salaries That Go Up To $415K
The 2022 salary wars seem to be winding down, but there are still dozens of firms that have yet to make a move (that we know of) when it comes to compensation. The key phrase there was “that we know of” – if anonymous sources don’t reach out to us, it makes it difficult for us to report on and track how associates are doing financially at each firm.
In fact, it took one of our recent dives into the firms that hadn’t raised salaries yet (to our knowledge) to get tipsters from one very highly ranked firm to reach out to us. This is just a little reminder for folks to get in touch with Above the Law as soon as your firm announces any kind of salary or bonus news. The more tips we receive, the merrier! And now, onto today’s salary news.
We thought it was a bit odd that Sullivan & Cromwell – a firm ranked at No. 18 on the most recent Am Law 100, with $1,555,441,000 gross revenue in 2020 – had yet to announce a Cravath match, but as it turns out, the firm matched about a month ago in mid-March.
SullCrom doesn’t put out a lockstep raise memo, but the recent tips we’ve gotten track the market. This is what the firm’s new salary scale looks like:
Class of 2021: $215,000
Class of 2020: $225,000
Class of 2019: $250,000
Class of 2018: $295,000
Class of 2017: $345,000
Class of 2016: $370,000
Class of 2015: $400,000
Class of 2014+: $415,000
The new salaries at the firm are retroactive to January 1. Congratulations to everyone at Sullivan & Cromwell!
